Photog Monday: Meet Rayna | Precious Stones Photography

So I think Texas played a mean joke by putting spring break the same time as the time change. Not only did I skip last week, but I’m a day behind on this week! But our featured photographer is up! 🙂 This week, I would like you all to meet Rayna with Anchored Owl Photography! Rayna is a one of the other sweet ladies in my blog circle for Project 52. It has been so much fun getting to know these ladies through their photos! So let’s see what she has to say this week!

I’m Rayna Bloxham, a lifestyle and studio photographer located in the Pacific Northwest and soon to be Guam. I’m in love with traveling, my delightfully supportive husband, my three children and two fur babies, stripes, the beach, laughing so much it hurts, lush flowers, anchors, and everything coastal cottage related.

I am excited to be featured by Jamie, to share my joy (my work) with you and also to connect you. I love people, I love love, and I’m thrilled to know all of you! I hope you won’t be shy in introducing yourselves here, on my FB page, and on Instagram.

When did you first start your photography business?

  • I opened my business in April 2014 but I have been in love with photography since 2007. We lived in Italy at the time and I fell in love with the scenery. Photography became an obsession at that point.

What is your specialty?

  • I specialize in newborn photography. I had my first child in 2011 and she changed my entire world.

What do you shoot with and what’s your favorite lens?

  • I shoot with a Nikon d610 and I my favorite lens is the Nikkor 24-70mm

What has been your biggest challenge?

  • My biggest challenge has been staying true to my own style. It is really easy to see something on Pinterest and like it but know that it is good for someone else and not you specifically.

Tell me about your favorite session?

  • My favorite session? That is really hard to say. Newborns are just so much fun to work with. I love them. I enjoy every moment, their tiny little fingers and toes, their adorable little cries, the new (exhausted) parents. It’s really funny because I never wanted to do newborn photography because I thought it would be too much work. I did my first session and immediately fell in love. I feel so honored any time a family chooses me to photograph such a momentous time in their life.

Do you have any advice for new photographers?

  • My advice for new photographers would be to create your mission statement and put it in a place where you can read it multiple times a day. Knowing why you chose photography will keep you happy and on track.

Check out some of Rayna’s work!
